A Barisal court sentenced a man to life in imprisonment and fined him Tk25,000 for abducting and raping a schoolgirl in 2013.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Abu Shamim Azad gave the verdict based on testimonies of 10 witnesses on Thursday.
The court also ordered the issue of an arrest warrant against the convicted Rabbi Haoladar, 26, who was tried in absentia.
Advocate Fayezur Rahman Foyez, special public prosecutor of the case confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
