Police ordered to investigate allegations against Minni

Stone worker killed in Sylhet pit: A stone worker died and at least four others were injured on Sunday after an illegal quarry collapsed in Bholaganj of Companiganj upazila. The deceased, Rubel Mia, 24, was from Krishnapur village of Netrokona's Khaliajuri upazila. Companiganj UNO Sumon Acharjee said:  “Informed, we rushed to the quarry. A rescue operation is on." At least 76  workers died due to quarry landslides in the district in the last three years.

Woman killed in Indian buffalo attack: A woman was killed by an Indian buffalo at Gourangola village of Kasba upazila in Brahmanbaria on Sunday. The deceased Safia Khatun was the wife of Mokbul Hossain from the village. Kasba Police Station OC, Md Lokman Hossain, said: "A buffalo, entered from India, attacked the villagers of Gourangola, leaving eight people including Safia injured. Later, Safia was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. The others injured are currently undergoing treatment."

Police ordered to investigate allegations against Minni: A Barguna court on Sunday ordered police to investigate witness intimidation allegations against Ayesha Siddiqua Minni. Barguna District and Sessions Court judge Md Asaduzzaman issued the order after hearing a writ petition seeking cancellation of Minni's bail in the Rifat Sharif murder case . Barguna police were told to submit a report to the court within a week. Minni's counsel Mahbubul Bari Aslam confirmed the matter.

Two arrested with 12,000 yaba pills: Police arrested two drug dealers with 12,000 yaba pills from Chatkhil municipality area in Noakhali on Sunday. The arrested, Aziz Karim,33, and Hamidul Haque,31, are from Cox's Bazar district. Chatkhil police station OC Anawarul Islam said: "On a tipoff, we arrested the two with the contraband. A case will be filed."

Four held with counterfeit Indian currency in Chapainawabganj: Police arrested four people with Indian fake rupees worth Tk 6 lakh and seized counterfeiting equipment from their possession at Binodpur and Kansart in Shibganj upazila. The arrested Sadekul Islam, Anwar Hossain, Jamal, and Moinul, are from the upazila. Rajshahi Additional Superintendent of Police, Mahbub Alom Khan, disclosed the information at a press briefing held at the SP's office on Sunday.

Man detained for fake question papers: Rapid Action Battalion(RAB) in a drive on Sunday , arrested a fake question paper leak syndicate member in Shahrasti upazila of Chandpur. The arrested, Rasel Alom,24, lives in the upazila. Sharasti police station OC Md Shah Alom said: "Rasel has been selling fake question papers  for a while now. RAB handed Rasel over  to us. He was sent to court."

Infant murdered over land dispute: A three month old infant was killed, reportedly by her uncle, over a land dispute in Uttar Tarabunia village in Kathalia upazila of Jhalkathi, on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Jannati. Jannati fell from her mother's lap when a physical scuffle ensued over land between her father and her uncle Afzal. At one point, Afzal hit the infant, claimed Jannat's father, Kalam. Kathalia police station OC Pulok Chandra Roy said: "Informed, we got to the spot and legal action will be taken."
