Representatives visits Indo-Bangladesh bridge in Khagrachari

During their visit, the representatives sat in a meeting where they discussed the construction of roads to be connected with the bridge, and issues regarding the safety of the Indian workers in the project

Representatives from India and Bangladesh visited the construction site of India-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge 1 on Sunday in Ramgarh of Khagrachari.

Md Abdul Wahid, additional chief engineer of Chittagong Roads and Highways Department led the Bangladesh team while Dr TK Debnath, district magistrate of South Tripura led the Indian representatives.

During their visit, the representatives sat in a meeting where they discussed the construction of roads to be connected with the bridge, and issues regarding the safety of the Indian workers in the project.

The representatives of Bangladesh included: Khagrachhari Additional District Magistrate Md Sayed Majumdar, 43 Border Guard Bangladesh Commanding Officer Lt Col Md Tarekul Hakim, Ramgarh Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Sarwar Uddin, and a few others.

The construction of the 412 metre long and 14.8 metre wide bridge over the Feni river started in 2017 and is scheduled to reach completion within April of this year.

The total cost for the construction is estimated at around Tk100 crore, all of which will be covered by the Indian government.
