Two people including a teenage boy were arrested in cases filed for rapes in Barisal and Gazipur.
In Barisal, a 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly assisting in the rape of a 14-year-old mentally challenged girl in Babuganj upazila.
Meanwhile the prime accused, who is a 15-year-old boy, has been on the run, said Babuganj police station OC Mizanur Rahman. “Both the accused are tenth-grade students, and classmates in a local school.”
According to the case filed by the girl's father, on Friday night, the 15-year-old boy lured the girl to the 16-year-old's home and the former raped the girl while the latter stood watch.
Police sources said the girl had been taken to a hospital in Dhaka and police are conducting drives to arrest the prime accused.
The girl's mother demanded exemplary punishment of the rapists.
In Gazipur, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man accused in a case filed for raping a five-year-old girl in North Salna area.
The accused Nurul Islam, 59, confessed to prior rapes of multiple girls during primary interrogation, said RAB 1 Porabari camp Commanding Officer Lt Cdr Abdullah Al Mamun.
He said: "Nurul lured the girl behind a grocery shop and raped her there on Friday morning. The girl's father filed a case with Gazipur Sadar police station regarding the matter."
Woman raped in Gopalganj
A survivor filed a rape case with Tungipara police station on Friday.
The accused identified as Tarun Mondal, 25, son of Rathin Mondal of Tungipara upazila, reportedly raped the woman on Wednesday.
According to the case details, Tarun often used to obscenely harass the woman on the streets. She lived with her mother-in-law while her husband worked in Dhaka. On Wednesday night, Tarun abducted the woman to an abandoned place, and raped her.
Tungipara police station OC AFM Nasim, said: "We sent the woman to a hospital for medical tests. The accused is currently on the run."
