Jute mill workers to resume hunger strike in Khulna

The meeting was held at the conference room of the Labour and Employment Ministry in the city on Thursday

Update : 27 Dec 2019, 01:36 AM

Workers of nine state-owned jute mills in Khulna have announced to resume their hunger strike on Sunday afternoon.

The decision was taken after the third meeting—held between jute mill workers and leaders, and authorities from the Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC) and the Textiles and Jute Ministry—failed to reach an understanding.

The meeting was held at the conference room of the Labour and Employment Ministry in the city on Thursday.

Earlier, on December 10, jute mill workers started the hunger strike to press home their 11-point demand, including implementation of national wage commission.
