A man has been arrested in a case filed over the apparent suicide of a man and his daughter after being denied justice.
Sreepur police Sub-Inspector Kaiser Ahmed said Shaheed, 40, was a close associate of the case's prime accused Faruk and was named in the case.
Shaheed was arrested from his house in Goshinga union's Karnapur village early Wednesday.
His wife Shefali Akter said Sreepur police picked up her husband around 3am. She said police told her that they were taking Shaheed away for questioning but she learned in the morning that her husband was an accused in the suicide case.
Hazrat Ali, 45, and his eight-year-old daughter Ayesha Akhter apparently jumped before a train near Sreepur Railway Station on April 29, after failing to get justice over attempts to violate the minor girl and grab his land.
Gazipur district police formed a three-member committee on Tuesday to investigate the deaths.
