Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan has said Tk1 lakh will be given to the families of the victims, who were killed in the Brahmanbaria train accident.
He made the statement while visiting the accident site on Tuesday afternoon.
The minister said: “Additional Tk25,000 will be given for their burial while Tk10,000 will be given to those who were injured in the accident.”
At least 16 people were killed and over 50 injured when one intercity train collided head-on with another in Kasba upazila in the early hours of Tuesday.
Sujan said it was the fault of Turna Nishita Express’s loco master, as did not obey the signal light.
