A Bangladeshi man has been shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) of India along the Laraighat border in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah.
The incident occurred in Shilgate area under Hanskhali village of India's Nadia district early Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Sumon Hossain, 25, son of Abdul Mannan from Shyamkur village of Jhenaidah.
Jhenaidah Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-58) Director Lt Col Quamrul Ahsan, said: "Sumon was shot by BSF men of Pakhiura camp, when he, along with a few others, went to the border area to bring cattle."
The body is currently under the custody of Hanskhali police station in Nadia district, he said.
Sumon was a cattle smuggler, said the BGB official.
