Kuet closed down indefinitely due to clash over football

Four to five students were injured during the clash

Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet) has suspended all its academic activities until further notice after a brawl between two groups of students over a football match.

The announcement was made on Friday midnight, according to a press release signed by Kuet Registrar GM Shahidul Alam.

He stated: "Students of Amar Ekushey Hall and Fazlul Haque Hall got into a fight over a football match on Friday afternoon and leaving four to five students injured in the process.

"The residential students have been ordered to vacate the halls."

Male students have been ordered to vacate residential halls by 5pm while the female students will have to leave their hall within 10am Sunday, he added.

Meanwhile, sources from the institution said the admission test for the University of Khulna, which was to be held at Kuet on Saturday, will take place as per schedule.

Police were deployed on the campus at night, Khan Jahan Ali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam said.
