Police recorded two cases filed for the rape of two teenage girls, a 16 year old and a 12 year old in Jessore and Bogra respectively, on Wednesday.
In Jessore, the 16-year-old mentally challenged girl was raped reportedly by a man who had employed her as household help in Chaugachha upazila.
The girl’s family filed a case with Chaugachha police station in this regard yesterday.
According to the case statement, the accused Kurban Ali would sexually harass the girl, a household help in his house. When she resisted his perverted advances, Kurban abducted and raped her in an isolated place last Thursday.
Chaugachha police station SI Nazrul Islam said: "Kurban is on the run and we are trying to arrest him as soon as possible."
In Bogra, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) early on Wednesday detained the prime accused in a case filed for the rape of a mentally challenged teenager.
The arrested Abdur Rahim, 50, is a microbus driver from Gopalbari village of Shakharia union in Bogra Sadar upazila, said RAB 12 Special Company Acting Commander Rowshan Ali, in a press briefing at her office on Wednesday.
She said: “The elite force acting on a tipoff detained Abdur from Sabrul Bazar in Shahjahanpur upazila around 7am.”
The girl’s family filed a case with Bogra Sadar police station, which stated that on October 5, the suspect lured the girl to his room, tempting her with candy, and raped her.
RAB handed over the suspect to the police station in the afternoon.
