Four killed in road accidents

In Kushtia, a union parishad chairman was critically injured when a bus rammed his motorcycle on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah Highway Friday morning

At least four people, including a police constable, and an UP chairman were killed,, and seven others injured in road accidents in Tangail, Kushtia, and Sirajganj on Saturday , and Friday.

In Tangail, two people died in separate road accidents in Kalihati, and Mirzapur upazilas on Saturday morning.

In Kalihati upazila, a police constable was killed when his motorcycle was run over by an unidentified vehicle on the Tangail Bangabandhu Bridge Highway in the morning. 

The deceased Ariful Islam, 40, was a constable of the special branch of police in Dhaka.

Bangabandhu Bridge East police station OC Mosharrof Hossain said “Ariful was travelling from his home in Ullapara of Sirajganj to his workplace in Dhaka on a motorcycle. As he reached the Solla area of the Tangail Bangabandhu Bridge Highway, an unidentified vehicle ran him over.”

In Mirzapur upazila, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed, and six others injured when the vehicle was rammed by a bus in Deohata area of the Dhaka-Tangail Highway around 11:30am.

The deceased Nazrul Islam, the auto-rickshaw driver, died while undergoing treatment at the Kumudini Hospital, confirmed Deohata police station SI Selim Reza.

In Kushtia, a union parishad chairman was critically injured when a bus rammed his motorcycle on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah Highway Friday morning.

Md Yusuf Ali Mollah, the chairman of Ziaraakhi Union Parishad, died yesterday while undergoing treatment at a hospital, confirmed Ziaraakhi Union Parishad Secretary Md Mahiuddin Sheikh.

In Sirajganj, a man was killed after being run over by a truck in Bagbari area of the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway on the west side of the Bangabandhu Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased Shafiqul Islam, 35, was crossing the highway when the truck ran him over. Locals rescued him, and admitted him to Sirajganj General Hospital.
