Death toll in Dinajpur boiler blast rises to 12

The death toll from Wednesday’s boiler explosion at Jamuna Auto Rice Mill in Gopalganj of Dinajpur district has risen to 12 as eight critically injured workers succumbed to their injuries on Sunday. Mukul Chandra Roy, Munna, Dulal Chandra Roy, 40, Udoy Chandra Roy, 32 andSafikul Islam, 35, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital Ripon, 30, died at Dinajpur M Abdul Rahim Medical College Hospital. Ranjit, 34, Delwar Hossain, 30, who were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital also succumbed to their injuries. Anjali Rani Roy, 45, Moksed Ali, 48, Ariful Islam, 45 and Rustam Ali died earlier after the explosion. RMCH burn and plastic surgery department head Professor Dr Maruful Islam confirming the matter, said that 22 injured workers were taken to the  hospital, of whom six people have died. "The remaining workers are in critical condition and suffering 90% burns," he added. The explosion occurred around 11:30am on Wednesday from an overheated rice boiler, injuring 28 workers. Most of the workers present at the mill during the incident were injured. On Thursday, a six-member probe committee was formed by the district administration headed by Additional District Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman to investigate the matter. The committee is to submit a report of Sunday.
