A housewife has been slaughtered by unidentified miscreants in Bandarban sadar upazila under the district.
The incident occurred at the victim’s residence in Chiuni Khal Para hilly area of the upazila early Sunday.
The deceased is Golapi Begum, 47, wife of Md Shahjahan of the same area.
Appela Raju Naha, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lama police station, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “On Saturday night, the woman and her 7-year-old grandson went to bed as usual.
“Sometime early Sunday, the miscreants entered the household and slaughtered Golapi in her sleep.”
After waking up on Sunday morning, her family entered the room and found her butchered body. Later, they informed the police and local leaders.
Lama Sadar Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mintu Kumar Sen said: “The motive behind the murder is still unclear. Therefore, we are looking into the matter and trying to identify the assailants.”
The body was sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case will be filed in connection with the incident.
