2 die of dengue in Chandpur, Khulna

The unofficial death toll,so far, is reported to be around 177

Two people died due to dengue in Chandpur and Khulna districts.

In Chandpur, a child died of dengue. 

The deceased was identified as Abdul Kader, 13, son of Amin Gazi from Jamtala area of Chandpur city.

The incident occurred on Thursday.

Family members said, Abdul was suffering from dengue fever, and was admitted to Chandpur sadar hospital on Wednesday. Later, he was referred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he died on Thursday.

Chandpur 250 Bed General Hospital Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Sirajjadaula Rubel said, Abdul was suffering from dengue fever for the last four to five days. He heard about his death on Thursday.

In Khulna, a woman has died of dengue at Khulna Medical College Hospital on Thursday. 

The deceased was identified as Machura Begum, 25, wife of Habibullah of Abhaynagar Upazila in Jessore. 

Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) Residential Physician (RP) Dr Shailendranath Biswas, said Machura was admitted to the hospital on October 7 with dengue fever. 

“She lost her battle against dengue around 12pm on Thursday,” he added. 

Dengue situation in Bangladesh

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Health Services said a total of 316 dengue patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning. 

Of them, 91 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka while 225 others to different district hospitals.

Currently, 1294 dengue patients are being treated in hospitals across the country. Of them, 452 dengue patients are receiving treatment in the capital, while the rest 842 are in hospitals outside Dhaka. 

A total of 93 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till October 4, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be around 177, so far.

Since January 1 till October 10, as many as 91,115 people have been affected by dengue.

Among those admitted, a total of 89,579 have been released from their respective hospitals, and clinics after treatment.
