Eight die drinking excessive liquor

Eight people, including two siblings, died after drinking excessive alcohol during Durga Puja celebrations in the metropolitan city and Rupsa upazila of Khulna on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Indrani Sen, 25, Dipto, 28, Amit Shil, 38, Sujan Shil, 26, of Galaxy intersection of city, Prasenjit Das, 29, of Gallamari, his brother Tapas, 35, Raju Biswas, 25, of Bhairab Tower and Parimal of Rajapur area in Rupsa upazila.

They died at different times from the early morning to 6pm on Wednesday.

The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Khulna Medical College (KMC) hospital morgue.

Civil Surgeon ASM Abdur Razzak said they died consuming excessive liquor.
