Two people, including a local Bangladesh Chhatra League leader, were arrested on Wednesday night for the murder of a man whose daughter was stalked in Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj.
The arrested were identified as the girl's home tutor Aminul Islam, general secretary of Kazipur municipality unit Chhatra League, and college student Nasir, said Kazipur police station OC Lutfor Rahman.
Police said Abdur Rouf Syed, 46, was severely injured in an attack by the stalkers of his daughter, an honours first year student, when he went to protest the harassment of his daughter. He later died in hospital on Wednesday.
Police took deceased Abdur Rouf to the Sirajganj 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital morgue on Thursday morning.
Abu Taleb, brother of the deceased, filed a case with Kazipur police station against 16 people, including Aminul.
