MyOne Electronics and Minister Hi-Tech Park Limited Chairman Abdur Razzak Khan Raj said the fire at his factory has caused damages worth Tk100 crore.
He shared this with reporters at a press conference around 11am Saturday.
“The fire has caused damages worth Tk100 crore. Electronics including refrigerators and LED TVs were damaged in the fire,” Abdur Razzak said.
He said: “The factory had maintained all fire safety measures. Even when the building was being constructed, I had overseen all of the safety measures. I do not understand how such a big incident could have taken place.”
A team of 16 firefighting units doused the fire after a seven hour operation around 2pm on Friday.
Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Mamunur Rashid said: “A fire broke out on the sixth floor of the factory, in which both the fifth and sixth floors were entirely damaged.”
