An ex-under 19 cricketer has died reportedly of wrong treatment in Khulna.
Ripon Sarder, 30, a student of Khulna Polytechnic Institute, died on Sunday morning.
The deceased's father, Shawkat Hossain said: "My son was admitted to Khalishpur Clinic with gastric problem around 12:45am. His health deteriorated after he was given a wrong injection.
"Ripon was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where doctors declared him dead."
Khalishpur Clinic Manager Amjad Hossain said: "At first Dr Suja Uddin refused to provide treatment to Ripon, as his condition was critical. On his family's request, he was given the proper treatment.
"After Ripon died, his family beat up Dr Suja and injured him."
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khalishpur police station Md Sabirul Alam said: "Ripon was shifted to KMCH around 4am, where he died. His family has assaulted the doctor."
"Sonadanga police rescued Dr Suja and admitted him to KMCH," the OC added.
