A schoolboy has committed suicide, reportedly after his parents were unable to afford new clothes on the occasion of Pohela Boishakh in Bogra’s Dhunot upazila.
The deceased is Shipon Babu, 10, son of Shona Ullah Sheikh.
Dhunot police Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman said: “Class IV student Shipon asked his parents for new clothes on Friday morning on the occasion of Pohela Boishakh. But his poor parents were unable to afford them.
“He later hung himself from a tree outside the house around 9:30am, after his parents left for work.
Police recovered the body being informed by locals.
