2 children drown in Panchagarh

The rescue operation lasted for eight hours

Bodies of two children have been recovered from Teesta river, after they were missing for eight hours.

The bodies were recovered Friday night by Fire Service members near Domar upazila in Nilphamari district.

One of the deceased is Abdullah, 9, son of Faruk Hossain from Ramganj area Tepriganj union in Debiganj upazila.

Another deceased is Shaon, 7, son of Aliul Islam from the same area.

Tepriganj UP Chairman Golam Rahman Sarker said the two children went missing, after going to play near the Teesta river bank.

Locals informed Fire service officials, after spotting the children’s clothes on the river bank.

Later, Fire Service officials recovered the bodies from the river.

Debiganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rabiul Hassan Sarker said: "Fire Service officials recovered the bodies of the two children after carrying on the rescue operation for eight hours. 

An unnatural death case has been filed in this regard.
