Two people have been killed and three others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Tangail highway near Mohera area in Tangail's Mirzapur upazila.

The incident occurred on Friday morning.

The victims were identified as Abdur Razzak and Abdul Kader, both hailing from Atgharia upazila of Pabna. They were relatives.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Gorai highway police Sub-Inspector (SI) Matiar Rahman said: "The three injured are undergoing treatment at Tangail General Hospital, while the victims' bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue."

According to police sources, a Dhaka-bound microbus coming from Pabna and carrying five members of a family, crashed into a truck near Mohera area.

The passengers, and the truck driver, all sustained critical injuries, and after they were admitted to Tangail General Hospital, two of them were pronounced dead by the duty doctors.

The microbus driver, however, sustained minor injuries and left the hospital secretly after receiving primary treatment.
