A woman has been killed by her husband, who was intoxicated at the time of the incident, at Uttarpara village of Maheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah.
The deceased – Firoza Khatun, 45, died after being hit by a sharp object on her head on Saturday midnight.
Police later arrested the husband, Kuddus Ali Bishwas, in connection with the murder.
Maheshpur Police Station officer-in-charge SM Amanullah said, "On Saturday midnight, Kuddus entered his house intoxicated. He had an argument with his wife, and at one point, Kuddus hit his wife with a sharp object on her head. This resulted in excessive bleeding which lead to her death on spot."
The body has been sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Kuddas is a carpenter, and Firoza was a housewife and the mother of four children.
