2 suspected robbers lynched in Pabna

Police claimed they were members of  the Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party, who are known for their criminal activities

Two suspected robbers have been lynched by a mob at Santhia upazila in Pabna.

The incident took place near Sondaha Kanelpara village early Saturday.

The deceased are Shahin, 45, and Machhir alias Kalu, 35.

Police claimed that both were members of the Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party, who are known for their criminal activities. They were wanted in various cases , filed with Santhia police station, on charges of robbery and possessing explosives.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Santhia police station Jahangir Hossain said four people, all members of the same criminal gang, attempted to commit robbery at the house of one Siddiq in the village.

When the residents of the house became aware of their attempt, they started shouting for help.

Locals, however, rushed in and caught two of the robbers while the others managed to flee the scene, the OC said.

The duo was beat up heavily by the angry mob.

On information, police went to the spot, rescued the duo, and sent them to Santhia Upazila Health Complex.

As their condition deteriorated, the duo was shifted to Pabna General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.
