Police have arrested three men on abduction and rape charges in three districts.
Two of the arrests took place on Monday and another on Tuesday.
In Chapainawabganj, police arrested a man from the Kansat bus-stand area of Shibganj upazila on Monday night, for reportedly raping a six-year-old.
Sources said the accused, Shafiqul Islam, 55, lured the girl with promises of food, took her to his house, and raped her.
Told about the incident by the child, her mother filed a case against Shafiqul.
Chapainawabganj Sadar police station OC Md Idris Ali confirmed the incident to Dhaka Tribune and said: "The accused rapist Shafiqul was on the run after the case was filed. Acting on the case, we arrested him."
Meanwhile, police arrested a man from Purbadhala upazila, Netrokona, on account of abducting, raping, and later marrying his niece.
Sources said the detained, Manik Khan, 30, is married to the girl's aunt. Manik reportedly abducted the girl on May 14 from her house in Sakhipur, Tangail, and took her to Netrokona, where he raped and later married her.
Manik on the other hand denied all allegations and said: "The allegations aren't true. I took the girl to my Netrokona house and married her with her full consent."
Sakhipur police station OC Amir Hossain said: "Following a general diary filed by the victim's mother, we rescued the girl and arrested Manik from Netrokona. Being directed by the district court we sent him to jail on Tuesday morning.
In a separate incident, police arrested a man on Tuesday in a case filed for raping a woman in Sakhipur upazila, Tangail.
The accused is Aminul Sikdar, 35, who hails from Adani Bhuiyand village of the same upazila, confirmed Sakhipur police station Sub-Inspector Mojibur Rahman.
He said: “Medical test for the woman was conducted in Tangail General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.”
Police sources said, Aminul entered the woman’s room on Sunday night, as the front door was left unlocked. Later he raped her the same night.
Later the woman filed a case on Tuesday morning in connection with the incident.
Police produced him before court, which later then sent him to jail.
