Officials and employees of Hakimpur municipality in Dinajpur began an indefinite work abstention to press home their demand for receiving monthly salaries, and other amenities from the state treasury rather than from the funds of the municipality.
All the activities of Hakimpur municipality are halted from Sunday, and the employees left Dinajpur, said Bangladesh Municipal Service Associations' Hakimpur unit president Saiful Alam.
He added that they will continue work abstention until their demands are met.
Locals seeking services from the municipality office yesterday had to face inconvenience due to the abrupt haltage of municipality services.
