Police have arrested a man on Friday from Jhikargacha upazila of Jessore for reportedly raping a minor in Chuadanga.
The suspect, Abdul Malek, 50, hailed from Jhenaidah district.
Additional Superintedent of Police (ASP) Kanai Lal Sarkar said the suspect was on the run after the incident.
"A team of Chuadanga Sadar police station tracked Malek's location in Jessore and arrested him from one of his relative's house," he told Dhaka Tribune.
The ASP added that Malek reportedly raped his neighbour’s six-year-old girl in a vacant house in Chuadanga on Wednesday afternoon.
The child was admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital after she fell ill. After receiving treatment, the mother was informed by the duty doctor that she had been raped.
On the same day, the survivor's mother filed a report against Malek with Chuadanga Sadar police station.
