Seven killed in road crashes across country

Several others have been also injured in the accidents

Seven people have been killed, and six others injured in separate road accidents in five districts in the last two days.

In Sirajganj, a passenger of a battery-run auto-rickshaw was killed, while three others were injured in a road crash on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway, yesterday morning.

The deceased is Anna Begum, 40, from Meghai Bhadraghat village.

Witnesses said the accident took place at Konagati in Kamarkhand around 10:30am, when a Dhaka-bound covered van hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving Anna Begum dead on the spot.

The injured auto-rickshaw driver, and two passengers were taken to a local hospital.

Bangabandhu Bridge West Zone police station OC Syed Shahid Alam said, the driver of the covered van fled with his vehicle soon after the accident.

In Gazipur,a man was killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway early yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Sanowar Hossain, 30.

A truck had a brake failure, and rammed into a vehicle in front of it, killing the truck's helper, Sanowar, said Mawna Highway police station SI Shujan Pandit.

In Magura, a couple was killed on spot  and other two of their family members injured when the car carrying them collided with a roadside tree on the Magura-Jessore Highway of Sadar upazila yesterday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as the Mohsin Sardar, 50, and his wife Rina Begum,45, confirmed Magura Sadar police station OC Sirajul Islam.

Mohsin was driving the vehicle and the injured were given first aid at Magura General Hospital, said OC Sirajul.

In Thakurgaon, a man was killed, and his younger brother injured in an accident at Baliadangi upazila on Friday night.

The deceased Noiful Islam, 45, hails from Kalmegh Bardhali village, confirmed 

Baliadangi police station OC Mosabberul Haq.

According to the relatives of the deceased, the siblings were heading towards Ratore village in Sadar upazila on a motorcycle when it collided with a three-wheeler at Chunihara area.

Both of them were taken to a nearby hospital. Noiful succumbed to his injuries around 1am yesterday while he was being taken to Rangpur Hospital.

In Bogra, two people were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar and Shajahanpur upazila on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Shopan Chandra Mali, 45, and Omar Faruk, 24.

In Shajahanpur upazila, Shopan was crossing the Bogra-Dhaka Highway in Shajapur area at night when a truck ran over him, killing him on the spot, said Shajahanpur police station OC Azim Uddin.

In Sadar upazila, a motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle, and fell on the Bogra-Rangpur Highway in the evening. 

The deceased, Omar, died on the spot when a Dhaka-bound truck ran over him, said Gobindaganj Highway police station SI Faruk.

He added that an unnatural death case was filed in connection with the incident.
