Police have arrested the owner-cum-headmaster of a residential school in Savar’s Ashulia area on charges of repeated rape and sexual assault of at least seven students aged eight to nine.
Amir Hossain is the founder headmaster of Amir Day Care School in Kurgaon area. He had long been sexually assaulting girls using various tactics, police and guardians said Friday.
His sickening activities surfaced after a nine-year-old girl had fallen sick after being raped Thursday.
She informed her mother about the matter and later guardians found that at least six other girls had been raped or assaulted by the school owner recently, Ashulia police Officer-in-Charge Mohsinul Kadir told the Dhaka Tribune Friday.
Police arrested Amir immediately after getting complaints and sent the children to the One-Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The girl raped Thursday has been admitted to the hospital as her condition deteriorated.
Amir started the school four years ago in a flat of a four-storey building in Kurgaon area, and had since been sexually assaulting the students. He increased the level of assaults on the students after his pregnant wife went to her village home four months ago, police say.
A case has been lodged with Ashulia police.
