At least four people were killed—and eight others injured—in road accidents in Gazipur, Gopalganj and Madaripur district on Thursday.
In Gazipur, two people were killed and eight others injured after a truck rammed into a human hauler on the Tongi-Kaliganj road at Shalimun.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
According to the police, the accident took place at around 7am when a truck hit the Tongi-bound human hauler. A passenger of the human hauler was killed on the spot and nine others were injured.
The injured were taken to Ahsanullah General Hospital where doctors pronounced another passenger dead.
Tongi police station OC Kamal Hossain confirmed the incident.
In Gopalganj, a madrasa teacher was killed in a road accident in the sadar upazila of the district.
The deceased, Hafez Sayem Mahmud, 25, was a teacher of Gopinathpur Madrasa in the upazila.
According to police, a bus hit Sayem's motorcycle as he rode through Sonasur area in the upazila around 11am, killing him on the spot.
Bhanga Highway police station OC Mahfuzur Rahman said: "Upon hearing about the incident by locals, we recovered the body from the spot and sent it to the Gopalganj General Hospital Morgue for autopsy."
In Madaripur, a man was killed in a road accident in Kalkini.
The deceased, Dilu Munshi, 48, was a electrical technician of Dudhkhali union, sadar upazila of the district.
According to police, Dilu was heading to Sahebrampur with other workers in a cart.
In Kalkini's Borobridge, he slipped and fell under its wheel and got injured. Locals took the critically injured Dilu to Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Kalkini police station OC Mofazzel Hossain confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
