Health minister: Hajis to get full treatment facilities during Hajj

This year, total 127,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj

Health Minister Zahid Malik said Bangladeshi pilgrims will get "100% treatment facilities" in Saudi Arabia this year.

He remarked this while briefing two teams of doctors formed to provide treatment to Bangladeshis hajis during Hajj at Dhaka's Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) building on Tuesday.

Health and Family Welfare Ministry, and Religious Affairs Ministry separately formed the medical teams comprising of 207 members.

Among the 207, 68 doctors, 54, 26 pharmacists and six lab technicians will go to Saudi Arabia from the Health Ministry.

Malik said: "This year, total 127,000 pilgrims, mostly elderly persons, will perform Hajj. 

"They might suffer from heart diseases, diabetics, and kidney complications. The government is sending these teams to ensure their treatment."

Among others, Md Ashadul Islam, secretary for health services division of the ministry and Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad, director general of Health Department, were also present during the event.
