Police have arrested a man for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old schoolgirl in the Sakhipur forest area of Tangail on Friday.
The accused is Nurul Islam, 50, a resident of Deobari village under Dariapur union of the upazila.
Citing locals, police said Nurul reportedly lured the fifth-grader into the Sakhipur forest on Thursday night—saying he would give her a mango—but then molested her.
Later, Nurul fled the scene when locals rushed to save the child after hearing her screams.
“The victim’s father has filed a case against the accused in this regard,” Sakhipur Police Station OC Amir Hossain told Dhaka Tribune.
