Human chain for Satkhira journalist attack: A human chain was formed in front of Satkhira Press Club, protesting the hour-long attack on 10 senior journalists, including the president and the general secretary of Satkhira Press Club. The human chain held around 11am on Friday, condemned the attack and demanded a quick arrest of the attackers. A case was filed with Satkhira Sadar police station against 24 people and unknown 150 individuals over the incident.

Two injured, six arrested in Bogra "gunfight": Police arrested six robbers after a reported gunfight, which injured two in the Amtoli Bridge area, Shibganj upazila, on Friday. According to the Bogra Detective Branch (DB) of Police, the men were members of a local robber gang and were wanted criminals in several cases. They were plotting a robbery in that area. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive, and upon their arrival the robbers opened fire, leading to the gunfight.

Four struck by lightning in Rajshahi: Four people, including two teenage boys, were struck dead by lightning in several places of Rajshahi last night. The deceased were identified as Jamshed Ali, 55, of Basudevpur, Musaul Haque, 15, of Godagari, Md Moni, 13, of Katakhali, and Bachha Hossain, 28 of Bagha. Locals said they were struck while picking mangoes during a storm at around 10 pm in their respective areas . The families of the deceased will get Tk10,000each from the upazila chairman's fund.

Man accused of killing father: A Feni court sent a man to jail and remanded him to three days interrogation for reportedly killing his father in Feni town. Shahdat Hossain alias Rifat, 24, was arrested on Tuesday when his father Humayun Kabir, 45, met his mysterious death. Humayun was hospitalized after a heart attack and died at the hospital. But he had wounds on his neck, head, and chest. Police suspect it was murder, said Feni Model police station OC, Abul Kalam Azad.

Man arrested with 4,000 yaba pills: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-14) arrested a drug dealer, Shakil Khandakar, with around 4,000 yaba pills from the Poirotola neighbourhood of Brahmanbaria Sadar early on Friday. Acting on a tip-off, RAB officials detained Shakil from his house in Poirotola. According to RAB-14, the confiscated drugs are valued at around Tk15 lakh.

Couple dies of inhaling toxic gas: A couple died after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning a septic tank in Char Brahmandi village of Sadarpur upazila, on Friday. The deceased were identified as Miraj Hawladar, 45, and his wife Chaina Begum, 35, reports UNB. Locals said Miraj was cleaning the tank around 11:30am when he inhaled toxic gas, fell sick, and started screaming loudly. Hearing his screams, his wife tried to rescue him but she too fell sick. Neighbours took the couple to Sadarpur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced them dead.
