Police have arrested three suspected members of a human trafficking gang from Ishurdi upazila in Pabna.
The law enforcers also rescued Ayesha, 17, daughter of Aktaruzzaman of Dhopakandi area in Gopalpur upazila, Tangail.
Acting on a tip off, a team of police conducted the drive in Ishurdi Bus Terminal area on Wednesday around 9:30pm and arrested the suspects.
The arrestees were identified as: Jayita Manna, alias Piu, alias Khadija of Goshpur area in Kolkata; Sananda Biswas of Birati Kolkata Housing Estate area; and Biswajit Das, a resident of Schoolpara area in Ishurdi.
Confirming the incident to the Dhaka Tribune, Ishurdi police station OC Md Bahauddin Faruki said: “The traffickers brought the girl from Ishurdi to Tangail with a motive of trafficking her to Kolkata.
“The gang accepted the allegations against them after a primary interrogation and said they had lured the girl with the false assurance of helping her become a fashion designer,” added OC Bahauddin.
