A madrasa teacher has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rape an eight-year-old girl in the Rajfulbaria area, on Tuesday.
The arrestee is Israt Hossain, 38, principal of Madinatul Darul Ulum Madrasa, reports UNB.
Locals said madrasa teacher Saiful Islam and the principal tried to rape the minor girl at the madrasa after regular class hours on Saturday. But the victim managed to escape.
Later, the girl's father filed a written complaint with the Savar Model police station.
Confirming the matter Savar Model police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sohel Rana said: "The principal was arrested after primary investigation found the allegation to be true.
"Prime accused Saiful is still on the run. We are trying to arrest him."
