Police detained the head of Bangladesh Chhatra League's Government College unit, Shahid Bulbul, on Saturday morning for assaulting his teacher.
Shamsuddin Junnun, 24, a resident of the municipality's Shalgari area, was detained from town, said Gautam Kumar Biswas, Additional Superintendent of Police .
He was produced in court and sent to jail, pending further investigation.
Masudur Rahman, a teacher of the college, was assaulted on May 12 upon stopping students from cheating and adopting unfair means in the examination. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media.
Although the case filed for the incident does not have Junnun's name, the CCTV footage shows him assaulting the teacher.
