A case has been filed against Rumana Akhter Mitu, the ex-wife of Bogra Gabtoli model police station Officer-in-Charge ANM Abdullah Al Hassan, over his suicide.
Gabtoli OC (investigation) Nuruzzaman said that OC Hassan’s first wife Sultana Razia Rosy had filed the case against Mitu, 25, and unnamed others on Wednesday night.
OC Hassan, 45, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his quarters around 10:45am Wednesday.
Police suspect that Hassan committed suicide due to conflict with his wife over his second marriage to Mitu.
“He came to the police station around 9:45am but left very soon for the police quarters after handing over a letter and his keys to Assistant Sub-Inspector Hasina,” OC (investigation) Nuruzzaman said.
ASI Hasina, also the duty officer, and Hassan’s bodyguard Qaiyum went to his house as he did not respond to phone calls, and found him hanging from the ceiling through the window.
ASI Hasina told Dhaka Tribune that Hasan instructed her to handover the letter over to his first wife Rosy.
“It seemed he was suffering from depression for a while,” the ASI added.

She did not disclose anything regarding the letter to the reporters.
Pabna Sadar OC Abdur Razzak said that Hassan had joined the Pabna police station in 2015 and soon began an extramarital relationship with a young divorcee Mitu.
“He later married her without divorcing his first wife Rosy,” OC Abdur added.
He bought Mitu an apartment worth Tk20 lakh in Pabna.
While his first wife Rosy was living in Rajshahi city along with their two children.
After the news of his second marriage spread, Hassan started having marital disputes with his first wife Rosy.
On November 4, 2016, their marital disputes culminated to a public confrontation when Rosy went to Hassan and Mitu's quarter and beat up them up with a sandal.
Senior officials at the Rajshahi Range Deputy Inspector General’s office tried to conceal the matter by transferring OC Hassan to Joypurhat police station.
After being transferred from Pabna, Hassan and Mitu got divorced.
On February 6, 2017, he joined the Bogra Gabtoli model police station as OC.
Confidential sources said Hassan continued his relationship with Mitu even after they divorced.
Mitu has been absconding since Hassan's suicide and police are actively looking for her.
