The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has decided to cancel physicians' holidays in districts and upazilas that Cyclone Fani could hit.
The directives came at a preparatory meeting with all the officers associated with the Directorate of Health on Thursday.
Additionally, a total of 2,362 medical teams have been formed to combat the effects Cyclone Fani in the Barisal, Chittagong, and Khulna divisions, reports BSS.
These teams will work to deal with untoward situations; while necessary medicine for 10,000 people, from the World Health Organization (WHO), has been sent to every division across the country.
Meanwhile, 497 medical teams have been formed in Barisal, 1,048 in Chittagong, and 817 in Khulna division.
District or upazila-based local control rooms have been opened in the Barisal, Khulna, and Chittagong divisions. These control rooms will maintain communication with the National Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room under the Directorate of Health during the cyclone.
