Awami League leader shot, hacked to death in Rajbari

The deceased, Pikul Biswas, was initially shot by assailants

An Awami League leader has been shot and hacked to death in Sarisha bazaar under Pangsha upazila of Rajbari.

The incident occurred around 1am on Thursday.

The deceased is Pikul Biswas, 40, general secretary of upazila Awami League and son of the late Jalil Biswas. He was also the younger brother of Pangsha Upazila Parishad (UP) Chairman Ajmal Ahal. 

Pikul was on his way home when he was shot and hacked by unidentified assailants. 

He was first admitted to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Pangsha police station, Ahsan Ullah, said: “We still do not know who the attackers are. We are investigating this.”
