A suspected thief has been killed by mob beating in Railbazar area in Chuadanga.
The incident took place in early hours on Saturday.
The deceased Faruq Hossain, 22, was a resident of Police Council area in Chuadanga.
According to locals, the deceased Faruq and his associates were caught on the spot looting five shops in Railbazar area. While two of Faruq's associates fled, he got critically injured in a beating.
The locals then handed him over to the police. He was immediately sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Chuadanga Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fakhrul Alam said: " Being informed about the mob beating, we drove to the spot where the locals handed over an injured Faruq.
"Upon his confession before we sent him to the hospita, we also caught two of his associates involved in the incident."
