A Qawmi madrasa teacher from Feni’s Dagonbhuiyan was detained by the police on Tuesday after he was accused of raping a nine-year-old boy.
According to police and locals, the boy was enrolled at Al Jamiyatul Islamia Abdullah Ibne Abbas Madrasa in the upazila’s Dakkhin Alipur area.
The nine-year-old was a third-grade resident student at the madrasa. On Saturday, he was raped by Abdur Rahman, a 30-year-old teacher at the madrasa. The boy went home on Sunday and refused to return. When pressured, he broke down into tears and revealed to his family what happened.
Somi Uddin, officer-in-charge of Dagonbhuiyan police station, said the police arrested him Tuesday afternoon and have found preliminary evidence of rape.
He also said the boy has been sent to a hospital in Feni for medical examinations.
