Police on Saturday arrested a man in a case filed for raping a differently-abled girl in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj.
Khairul Islam, 20, was detained from the upazila’s Ulipur area and sent to the district jail, following a court hearing.
Ullapara police station Sub-Inspector, Alauddin, confirmed and said: “The girl's father filed a case with the police station on Friday, accusing two individuals.”
On Monday, neighbour Khairul and his friend Rafiqul lured the girl to a deserted place in the village and raped her.
Locals rescued the girl hearing her scream, and escorted her back to her house. Khairul and Rafiqul escaped in the meantime.
The girl's father complained to village leaders but did not get justice and so he filed a case with the police station.
Police are looking for the other accused, the SI added.
