Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 12 has arrested the main accused in the gang-rape of a Pabna female school student, in Dhaka.
Jahurul Islam, 26, was arrested in Shahjahanpur area of Dhaka Wednesday morning, confirmed Sirajganj RAB 12 Commander, Abdullah Al Momen, at a press conference held on Wednesday afternoon.
On April 14, the victim got on a CNG auto-rickshaw from Dighalkandi area of Bera, to go to Kashinathpur. However, instead of going to Kashinathpur, the auto-rickshaw driver, Al-Amin, and his friend, Jahurul, took the girl to a secluded place, raped her, and left her there.
Locals rescued the girl and brought her home. Her mother lodged a case with Aminpur police station, in connection with the incident. Later, RAB also started investigating the case.
During primary interrogation, Jahurul confessed to his involvement in the rape.
