Protests continued on the second day across the nation, demanding justice for Nusrat Jahan Rafi, the victim of sexual harassment in Feni who was burned to death.
Nusrat, a madrasa student, lost her battle for life Wednesday night at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, five days after she was set ablaze at a madrasa in Feni.
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (Kurigram division), Kurigram Press Club, Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, and other social and cultural organizations in the district held an hour long human chain demanding exemplary punishment of those responsible for Nusrat's death.
The demonstration was organized in front of Kurigram press club at 12pm on Friday.
Protesters also demanded Government supervision to ensure safety for women in their workplaces and called on citizens to participate in the social movements protesting violence against women.
‘Jono Uddog' Jessore led a human chain, demanding capital punishment of the killers. Various political organizations, cultural ,social and business organizations, participated in the human chain.
The human chain demonstrated on Friday morning at Suvash Chandra road.
A human chain was also formed by Samajtantrik Chhatra Front and Samajtantrik Mohila Forum in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall in Barisal, demanding a speedy trial and capital punishment for the killers of madrasa girl, Nusrat Jahan Rafi, on Friday.
