The Department of Environment (DoE) fined a person with Tk1.5 lakh for levelling hills in Foy's Lake area of the port city.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of DoE's Chittagong Metropolitan office conducted a drive at Abdul Hamid Road in Foy's Lake area and apprehended the person on Tuesday.
Later, the offender identified as Md Siddique was summoned for a hearing at the DoE's Chittagong Metropolitan office on Wednesday.
DoE Assistant Director Sangjucta Das Gupta told the Dhaka Tribune that the offender was fined with Tk1.5 lakh during the hearing on charge of flattening hills.
