A mentally challenged youth has been burnt to death during a devastating fire in Chittagong.
According to Patiya Fire Station, the fire broke out at Lakera village under Kolagaon union of Patiya upazila in Chittagong on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Hinu Barua, 28.
Soumen Barua, station officer of Patiya Fire Station told Dhaka Tribune that the received information of the fire at 11:35pm.
"On information, a team rushed to the spot within 25 minutes and doused the fire after half an hour. Three houses were gutted completely while another was partially gutted," said Soumen.
"The fire fighters recovered the charred body of the youth from the debris of a house. We suspect that he was asleep when the fire broke out. The residents delayed in reporting about the fire incident to the Fire Service," added Soumen.
