A two-and-half-year-old girl has reportedly been raped by a young man in the Ambikapur village in the Faridpur Sadar upazila on Monday.
The girl is now undergoing treatment at the one-stop crisis centre of Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Quoting victim's family members and locals, police said Mintu Sheikh, 20, a human-hauler driver of the village, took the girl to a bamboo bush on Monday afternoon and raped her there.
Hearing the child’s screams, locals rescued her and later took her to the hospital, reports UNB.
Mintu has gone into hiding.
AFM Nasim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said no complaint was lodged over the incident. “Action will be taken against Mintu once a formal complaint is lodged,” he added.
