Police have arrested five suspects accused of gang-raping a domestic help in Savar.
The accused are: Miraj Sarder, 32, of Rajbari; Moti Gomosta of Barishal; Rakibul Islam, 24 of Kurigram; Mahbub Haque, 42, of Gaibandha; and Moktar Hossain, 29, of Kurigram.
They, along with the victim, were all tenants in the same area of Katlapur and Rajabari.
Confirming the matter, police and family of the victim said: "The victim is a domestic help aspiring to be a garment worker. By luring her with a job offer, the accused gang-raped and physically abused her in a house in Rajabari. They threaten to take her life if she tried to reveal the incident."
Nonetheless, the victim filed a case against them and police caught them on a tip-off afterwards.
Savar Model police station OC AFM Sayed said: "The victim was sent to the One Stop Crisis centre for treatment."
