A jute warehouse has been gutted in a fire that broke out in Pashuhat area under Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district.

The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday.

Confirming the matter, Deputy Director of Chuadanga Fire Service and Civil Defence Abdus Salam told the Dhaka Tribune that three firefighting units went to the spot and brought the fire under control after two hours.

Nearly 1,000 maunds of jute were burnt to ashes in the fire, Salam said.

"There are several jute warehouses in the Pashuhat area," the deputy director said. "The fire broke out at Mohibul Islam's warehouse.”

He said: "On information, a unit of Alamdanga Fire Service rushed to the spot. After they failed to bring the fire under control, two more units from Chuadanga joined them."

The fire might have been ignited from an electric short circuit, Salam said.
