Two people have been detained for their alleged involvement in setting a female madrasa student on fire in Feni.
The female student was also an Alim examinee at Sonagazi Fazil Degree Madrasa.
The arrestees are Afsar Hossain, teacher of the English Department of Sonagazi Fazil Degree Madrasa, and Arifur Rahman, the female student’s classmate.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonagazi model police station Moazzem Hossain said: "They [detainees] are being interrogated in the presence of our senior officials.”
When asked about their findings regarding the case, he said: "We cannot say anything right now for the sake of the investigation."
The 19-year-old’s family had filled an attempt of rape case against her madrasa Principal Sirajuddaula on March 27.

Upon a formal complaint, police investigated the matter and found the allegations to be true. Later, the principal was detained and has been in the district jail since then.
Victim’s family claimed that Sirajuddaula’s supporters set the 19-year-old on fire because of the case.
On April 6, the female madrasa student was set on fire by unidentified miscreants in the terrace of the madrasa.
She had gone to the madrasa to appear for her Alim examination.
The student, who sustained 80% burn injuries in the incident, is being treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
