Police has recovered a bullet hit body of a village defence police (VDP) person in Brahmanbaria.
Police recovered the body, from the Talsahar Bahadur roadside of the Ashuganj upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased Bhanu Das, 35, was the son of late Hari Charan of the Taslsahar union.
According to family members, Bhanu mentioned going to the petrol pump in Ashuganj upazila former chairman Amir Hossain’s car, to get fuel. Later they were informed that Bhanu was shot dead and his body was lying on the Bahadur roadside.
His sister-in-law Mitali Rani Das said: “Bhanu had no enmity. But no one is able to say the reason behind this killing.”
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sarail circle) Md Moniruzzaman Fakir, while commenting on the matter, said: “We have heard people saying he was shot dead inside the former chairman’s vehicle by miscreants.
“But his body was found by the roadside and not inside the car,” said Moniruzzaman.
“An investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile we have sent Bhanu’s body to the Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. We will be able to say further once the autopsy result comes,” he added.
